3. Description of work
The structures are arranged respective to the urban developing boundary conditions and the functional requirements.

The research centre with 5.000 m2 main floor space is located in a long stretched structure, supplemented with a technical hall and a hall for large-scale experiments next to the laboratory and office buildings. The Allgemeines Verfügungsgebäude (universal disposal structure) with 3.000 m2 main floor space determined for relocation or extension of the institute is arranged in the western run of the Adenauerring. A rotunda connects the two structures. It serves interior to the communication and information for seminars and colloquiums as well as for the public presentation of scientific work.

The integration of the green space and the broadminded scope for development are substantial design criterions to help the conservation of trees as much as possible and to adopt environmental functions after correspondent designing.

Special technical equipment:
Concerning to the special purpose of the building are used as an experiment modern techniques, for example active use of daylight in rooms by means of “Heliostat”, passive heating system with transparent insulation and producing electrical energies of sunlight with “photovoltaic-modules”. At this project is aware of higher heat insulation requirements.
